Our Culture

As our office open-floor plan suggests, collaboration and teamwork are essential to the success of GDC. We have found that when we bounce ideas and contribute our expertise, we push each other to create the best designs and solutions for our clients and communities. We regularly take field trips to spatially experience and discuss what works – or doesn’t work – and incorporate what we learn into our designs. Communication and teamwork are key!

This spirit of engagement extends beyond the office walls. We work hard, but we also know how to play hard. At the end of a hard week of planning and designing, we eat “Friday lunches” together. We look forward to celebrating birthdays, office outings, and our much-anticipated Christmas parties. Our down-to-earth company culture ensures that we have fun while we get things done!

Nick Bevis

Project Designer

Nick was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture. Throughout his time in school, he worked different summer jobs/internships from residential design and installation to maintenance. He even got to spend a summer at Disney World working in the horticulture department. Shortly after graduation, he found himself starting his career back out in Orlando, Florida. Working on projects from single/multi-family communities to healthcare. Involved in the design process from conceptual design all the way to construction documentation.

Nick found his love for design in high school. In the process of searching for a design-based majors, like architecture and building construction science, he stumbled upon landscape architecture. After speaking with the Dean of Students and touring their facilities, he really saw this a unique approach to art and design. He saw landscape architecture as the ability to create safe spaces for people to enjoy. In life gets hard on everyone, so we all need that place to get away from everything and just enjoy the outdoors.

Nick spends his free time being active from exploring the city, checking out local restaurants and parks, to playing sports, like golf, soccer, and tennis. Nick also enjoys getting together with friends and family to watch live music or cheer on the Mississippi StateBulldogs.

Kaleb Baker

Project Designer

Originally from Grenada, Mississippi, Kaleb graduated from Mississippi State University with a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Contracting. Out of college, he moved to Nashville and gained a year of office experience with a design firm before joining the GDC team. In the 6 months he had been here, he has helped take hand drawn concept plans to AutoCAD, render designs in photoshop, and draft landscape plans, among other things.

When not in the office, Kaleb is either rearranging the house, playing one of my many instruments or playing a video game. He owns electric guitars, acoustic guitars, banjos, a dobro, a seagull merlin, and kalimbas. He loves board games, going fishing, and hanging out outside when the weather is nice. He has been with his girlfriend, Katelyn, for 5 years. We met at Mississippi State, and she is a Communications Manager at Greater Nashville Apartment Association. She is also a painter and photographer.

Connor Neville

He earned his MLA degree from the SUNY College of EnvironmentalScience and Forestry (“ESF”), where he specialized in cultural and scape preservation and modeling of community design. He has a background in GIS mapping and spatial analysis, and is always eager to integrate that skillset into development planning and landscape architecture.

Connor enjoys creating places and problem solving at the landscape-level to design with order, intention, and intricacy. He is most engaged when place-based solutions meet (and exceed) the unique needs of the people within a community. Simply put, Connor enjoys helping local people make wise decisions about their local places and resources! By applying the principals of design with technical craft, Connor aspires to uphold truth, beauty, and goodness in all that he does.

Connor lives on the rural outskirts of southern Franklin, TN, with his high-school-sweetheart and lovingwife, Ravyn, along with their beautiful daughter (Kestryll, or “Kessy”), fellow red-headed son (Clay), &family good-boy (Roo). Outside of work, Connor enjoys serving in his local church, spending quality timewith his family, dates with his wife, playtime with the kiddos, and romping around the farm with Roo!Connor’s hobbies typically are in sync with the seasons–from trips to the pumpkin patch in the fall, tovisiting botanical gardens in the spring–his favorite thing to do is be joyful, present, and content in every moment.

Matt Huff

Project Manager

mailto:[email protected]

Matt is a planner and project manager for GDC. For over 10 years with the company, Matt has worked alongside surveyors, engineers, and architects, and has developed a great understanding of how to best achieve the desires of the client by efficiently coordinating the efforts of the design team.  Matt specializes in the initial design and conceptual stage of the project where selling an idea is paramount. His art and graphic design background provide him the skill to identify and convey important themes and imagery of a plan effectively through both hand and computer-generated graphics.

A true Nashville native, Matt has an inherent interest in the success and smart growth of the community that he has always called home.  His fondness for art came from classes and extracurriculars he participated in at Brentwood High School which, combined with his love for the outdoors, led him to the University of Kentucky’s Landscape Architecture program.

While at UK Matt met his wife Melissa who is a Nurse Practitioner in Franklin where they now live.  In August of 2022, Matt and Melissa welcomed their sweet daughter Sutton into the world.  Once an avid outdoorsman, Matt now spends his free time a little differently, but hopes to soon begin introducing Sutton to the same fun activities that helped shape him.
