The Knox at Metrocenter introduced a unique challenge to create resort style amenities in the middle of Nashville. GDC worked with architects and engineers to envision a development that centered around a courtyard that could be used at all times in all seasons. Whether chilling by the pool or grilling out while watching a Titan’s game, this space needed to foster community while also establishing placemaking elements to make it truly unique and one of a kind. With an area like Nashville, where apartments are plenty, the Knox needed an identity that separated it from everyone else.

With an area like Nashville, where apartments are plenty, the Knox needed an identity that separated it from everyone else.
GDC was involved in the conceptual planning of amenities as well as the creation of Landscape and Hardscape Construction Documents for a 328-unit apartment complex in the Metrocenter area of Nashville. This also involved a certain level of branding and visualizing of how all the elements come together, including the building interiors and the courtyard. Amenities for this project included a 2,500 sf pool with private sunning areas, industrially-inspired fountains and trellises, and outdoor fireplace and a dog park. This project also created a 0.7 acre reforestation area on the banks of Amulet Lake near the Tennessee Titans Practice Facility. Also overlooking the lake is an outdoor grilling area and swing trellis that transports you to another place unlike anywhere else in Nashville.
